Day 41 and 42: FethiYAY
Place: Terrace of the V-go Hotel (Hostel), Fethiye (pronounced Fetiyay), Turkey
Time: 19:36
Day 41: Saturday the 12th May
Waking up to our first morning in Fethiye, to a dark grey sky and rain isn’t a great start but Craig and I took the opportunity to make it a slow start and with the hopes of the weather clearing and heading out in the afternoon.
Eventually the rain stopped and we hit the harbor for a look around. It was a beautiful walk as the harbor stretches for kilometers on end, with mountains covered in snow in the far distance and crystal clear water next to us on the path.
Enjoyed a yummy braai at our hotel and retired to our gigantic family room to enjoy a movie.
Nothing exiting…but a wonderful day none-the-less…as we saved all the magic for today.
Day 42: Sunday the 13th May
7am wake up, tekkies on and out the door we go for a quick jog along the harbor in order to get to the reception desk by 8am to book for an amazing day cruising around the bay.
8:35am: fruit, honey, tomato, olives, cucumber, cheese, coffee down the hatch and off we go to Oludeniz Beach where our boat will take us on a brilliant day out in the sun where we get to work on our Turkish Tinge.
It was a winding road that led us to this beautiful stretch of beach where we boarded the deck, raised the anchor and started the engines. The magnificence of the water dulls any notion of seasickness as the boat bobs up and down toward the first bay. We were mesmerized by the many colours of the water, indigo, teal, navy and green seen in every direction, mountains on our shoulder and in the far distance..it was truly amazing and Craig was hopping on and off the boat, not wanting to miss out on anything.
We were served a delicious lunch of fresh trout and chicken straight off the braai and then taken to more splendor.
It is so difficult to describe in words, just how magnificent our day was, so I am going to take Craigs advice and just post the pictures (as they speak for themselves) and that would be enough.
So its back to the braai tonight for some more of ‘the best chicken that Craig has ever tasted’ and off to bed to be put to sleep by the rocking motion I still feel.
Happy Mothers Day!!!!
